Technology-facilitated abuse is rapidly growing and affecting many in domestic violence situations. According to the NSW Crime Commission, one in four people purchasing GPS tracking devices since 2023 have a history of domestic violence.

Additionally, 99.3% of those seeking help at domestic violence shelters have experienced technology-facilitated stalking and abuse. Independent MP for North Sydney Kylea Tink expressed concerns about the alarming rise of this type of abuse in our country and held a roundtable on July 30, bringing together 40 frontline workers, service providers, researchers, advocates, peak bodies, and public sector leaders. Wesnet participated in this discussion.
